The purpose of outreach is to raise awareness of the importance and impact of science and engineering and their applications beyond the classroom. Outreach with K-12 school students and teachers can complement and expand on the topics presented to students as part of their state-approved curricula using hands-on activities. Outreach can also inspire elementary students to learn how they can tackle and solve societal problems as engineers. It also provides middle and high school students with insights into the value of engineering degree programs in college and beyond in their careers. Dr. Walters and PolyNEL students collaborate widely with K-12 schools and community colleges on outreach opportunities. Contact Dr. Walters at keisha.walters@uark.edu for more information.
